How to Plan a Birthday Party in Miami & Mom’s Fifty and Fabulous Details!

Hey G’s! If you follow me on social media you know I recently celebrated my mom’s 50th birthday in Miami! All she knew about the trip was the destination, I convinced her only 1 other person was joining us but ended up surprising her with a bunch of family and other fun surprises. I’ve put together all the details to inspire you for your next birthday celebration and there is also an entire vlog of the weekend now up on my Youtube channel.

To kick the trip off I surprised my mom with a super cute makeup pouch filled with goodies for the plane that matched the Black, White & Gold color scheme and Fifty and Fabulous theme! Inside, there was a Mini Margarita Mix Kit (so cute!), a face mask, Flask and two Casamigos Nips. In total there were 10 of us on the trip & it was super important for me to find an Airbnb that not only fit us all comfortably but also included a pool for us to social distance safely. We stayed in the Design District and were minutes from popular restaurants, attractions etc.. Aside from a few small hiccups upon arrival, our host Carlos was attentive, kind and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this Airbnb for a large group! I also wanted to make sure the kitchen was modern and spacious to host the private chef I hired, Chef Lexx of The Private Chef Experience Miami (I’ll share more details further in this post).

For our first full day in MIA, we relaxed by the pool enjoying mimosas. I surprised my mom with a cozy Fifty and Fabulous T-Shirt and custom wine glass to use for the weekend. I then had my mom get dressed for her next surprise which was a 60-minute Deep Tissue massage at The Standard Spa and Hotel. She absolutely loved it and highly recommends her masseuse Bryan! While she was getting pampered my family and I were rushing to set her surprise party up! We decorated with ceiling streamers, table confetti and a ‘Cheers to 50 Years’ wall banner. I wanted to have timeless favors everyone could take home so I got these ‘Fifty AF’ cups with gold glitter straws as well as mini champagne bottles with customized labels! We finished the party table with Photo Booth props that were such good quality and it was officially time to party.

We enjoyed a gorgeous charcuterie board my aunt put together but told my mom not to get too full because we’d be “going to dinner” soon. Little did she know I was bringing the dinner to her! I cannot recommend The Private Chef Experience enough! Chef Lexx and her assistant Chef G were so fun, friendly and accommodating, not to mention the food was amazing. With TPCE you have the option of a buffet style dinner or a sit down dinner which is a bit pricier but so worth it since that includes table decorations, a customized menu and table service. I got ahead of myself and also created a customized menu using Zazzle, but the TPCE menu was so professional! Speaking of the menu, I chose the Under the Sea crab cake as our starter, the TPCE special sauce chicken with garlic mash and asparagus as our entree and for dessert we had a scrumptious cheese cake with a Hennessy berry sauce. Delicious! Chef Lexx also was more than willing to accommodate me being a pescatarian and created a shrimp dish for me at no additional cost. Her customer service from our initial phone call down to clean up and everything in between was absolutely impeccable.

After dinner, we had one final surprise which was a gorgeous customized number cake from Frudeco Bakery. I was able to customize the colors to suit the party theme and it came out more gorgeous than I could’ve imagined! I was a bit worried the cake would be all looks, but it was equally delicious! Not to mention their customer service and delivery system was seamless. My only complaint was the chocolate Happy Birthday “Banner” that ended up being no bigger than my thumb LOL. I guess that’s my fault for not reading the fine print but other than that, I would order from them again! I topped the cake with gold 50 candles and a customized cake topper that read ‘Veronica is Fifty and Fabulous’.
