I don’t know about you but as the weather gets chillier in the North East, I’m getting so excited to dress for Fall! While a few trends have carried over from last year, others are fresh and breathing new life into fashion. Luckily, these trends aren’t difficult or expensive to recreate!

Bold Colors

Grays, neutrals and dark colors are what typically come to mind when talking fall fashion but this season, that’s changing. Bring some light into your wardrobe with bright primary colors and bold gem tones. You can go all out with a full monochrome look or sneak in some color with an accessory or two, either way go bold or go home!

Excessive Layering

This trend is hands down my fave! Its also the easiest to achieve potentially with what you already have in your closet. Layering is obviously essential in the colder months but the key to nailing this trend is layering excessively & in unexpected ways. For example, super chunky masculine sweaters/coats over feminine tulle/silk dresses and skirts. Layering smaller pieces on top of larger pieces rather than the other way around, or having each piece be a totally different color/texture.

Unexpected Knits

This trend is a twist on a classic that will be “in” every Fall/Winter season, knits! The difference this season is how you step out the box with it. Think ridiculous oversized knits, knitted accessories, or layering different knit pieces.

Chunky Shoes

This trend from last year won’t be going anywhere! Whether it’s a boot, clog or loafer embrace the chunky/rugged look this season. The key is to go for a traction or military style sole. However, I did notice more tall boots on the runway this year as opposed to the shorter/mid-calf length we saw before.

Structured Suits

Whether skirt or pants kind of gal, the structured suit is in. They key to this is tailoring the suit to your body! A good tailor can make an affordable suit look really luxe. I like that it can be dressed up with heels or down with a chunky, casual shoe.

Oversized Bags

I’m not sure what inspired literally every designer to go nuts with oversized bag silhouette this season, but I’m not mad at it! It’s one of those trends that’s both cute and convenient. I mean as a NYC girl on the go, a bigger bag is never a complaint. You can keep it simple with a solid color or go all out with bold patterns/textures but you really can’t get this trend wrong!
