Holiday Date Night Ideas: NYC

Don’t let a little cold weather slow you down when there are SO many cool things to do with your honey this holiday season! These NYC date night ideas will keep things spicy this season without breaking the bank.

Food & Drink

  • Eataly’s rooftop restaurant Serra by Birreria has transformed into Serra Alpina a snow-covered “winter greenhouse” with delicious Italian food & cocktails. Prix-fixe lunch $18, prix-fixe dinner $28. 
  • Williamsburg bar Sunday in Brooklyn puts you right in the holiday spirit with their X-mas themed pop up bar Snowday in Brooklyn. Think festive cocktails with gingerbread, white creme de cacao and bourbon of course. Prices vary.
  • Head to one of NYC’s most popular restaurants Serendipity 3 and share a traditional Serendipitous Hot Chocolate or the infamous Frrrozen Hot Chocolate (they’re huge!) for less than $15.
  • Rolf’s, a German eatery in Gramercy Park, transforms their restaurant into a Christmas spectacular with thousands of lights, ornaments and X-mas decorations! Prices vary.
  • New York Botanical Garden’s infamous Holiday Train Show gets an adults-only spin with Bar Car Nights. On select Friday & Saturday nights through the New Year enjoy a spiked hot chocolate while snuggling up by the fire pit and experience ice carving, singalongs plus Dj sets. $38 for non-members, $28 for Garden members. 
  • Mr. Purple’s outdoor rooftop is now Clicqout Chalet, an indoor après-ski themed snow globe! The fire place, cozy decor and holiday themed cocktails are perfect for any celebration. $100 spending minimum per group, reservations required.

Activities & Attractions

  • Randall’s Island has transformed into a Winter Wonderland festival called Luminocity that’s simply picturesque. Giant LED lights, 22 foot sculptures and a slide is just a taste of the Instagram worthy fun. Entry is $38 ($30 for students) and the shuttle is $10 roundtrip. 
  • Support local businesses and make a date of your Christmas shopping at one of NYC’s many Holiday Markets: Union Square Holiday Market, Grand Central Holiday Fair, Winter Village at Bryant Park and Columbus Circle Holiday Market. Free entry, prices vary.

Free

  • The people of Dyker Heights, Brooklyn play no games when it comes to holiday decorating and it’s definitely something to see! Check out the houses from 11th to 13th avenue between 83rd and 86th streets in the evening. Free.
  • Bundle up and see the gorgeous window displays at Saks 5th Avenue. This year’s theme is Frozen 2! Free.
