Jet Set G: San Francisco Travel Guide #JetSetG

This year for my best friends birthday we headed to San Francisco, where we explored & ate out a whole lot in the 5 days there. The Bay area is pretty spread out but if you know where to look you just might catch a vibe. So here are a few spots to check out, with a quick recap of my trip!

Day 1

During our trip we stood in Twin Peaks, a neighborhood right at the top of one of the highest peaks in San Fran, so we woke up to the most beautiful views everyday looking down on the city. As soon as we got to the house we went for a quick hike up the peak and explored the neighborhood before we went in search of food. Our first stop was literally the first restaurant to pop up on google, La Taqueria which was a little underwhelming so I would skip this spot unless your looking for bomb chips and salsa! (Warning, I ate a lot of Mexican food on this trip but hey, it’s Cali.)

We happened to be in “The Mission” a little neighborhood with a bunch of dispensaries & Mexican restaurants! Recreational weed over there is legal but dispensaries tax so prepare to spend a little more unless you have a medical card. Also they only take cash! You can get edibles, pre-rolled joints, hash, flour etc…

Mission Dolores Park

We explored The Mission and walked to Dolores Park which is super popular, the view from the top is gorgeous I would recommend coming here at sunset with your bae. Then right across the street from the park is Bi-Rite Creamery with the most bomb homemade ice cream. I highly recommend Ricanela (tastes like my grandmas rice pudding!) and roasted banana with their Lemon Poppy seed cookie.

Day 2

If you’re looking for a lit brunch vibe Farmer Brown is where you want to be. You can order A La Carte or eat buffet style which I chose to do, and their Southern home cooked food is so good. The Catfish, grits and homemade marmalade were my fave! Oh & of course, I had my brunch the only way one should, bottomless for an additional $20.

After brunch, we stumbled upon The Asian Art Museum of San Francisco by accident an hour before closing. It worked out in our favor because tickets are discounted 50% during the last hour, so we only payed $7, not bad huh? After the museum we made our way to Chinatown where the annual Chinese New Year parade was being held. Afterward we had beef ribs and kimchee fried rice at Goji goji, it was the perfect chill way to end the night. I always recommend looking up things to do in the city you’re visiting via Event Brite!

Day 3

Sunday was my bff’s birthday so it was whatever he wanted to do which included breakfast at home looking out at the gorgeous view. Later we had lunch at Home of Chicken and Waffles, another cool soul food spot in Jack London Square! I had the Angie’s Delight (breast, waffles, grits), a biscuit & a strawberry lemonade cocktail on my southern flow.

Afterward we finally saw Black Panther at The Grand Lake Theatre! It’s a beautiful historic movie palace in Oakland that gives you a true old school theatre vibe, plus tickets are $5 all day Tuesdays, $6 any day before 6pm, and free popcorn on Wednesdays. Oakland is truly for the people!

Day 4

Padrecito

Padrecito was my favorite place in San Francisco! The neighborhood is super cute, the interior reminds me of the kind of romantic restaurant you’d find in the Village. I had the Piñata signature cocktail and the Shrimp ceviche with plantain chips which were both SO good! We ended the day with spicy margarita’s and boardgames at Room 389, a cocktail lounge in Oakland.

Day 5

Our last day was super chill, we only had two things on our to-do list which was to find some bomb seafood and see the Golden Gate Bridge. We killed two birds with one stone by eating at the Fog Harbor Fish House restaurant on Pier 39, a tourist spot with beautiful views of the water.

You can see the Golden Gate bridge from multiple Vista points, we purposely chose the furthest Vista point from where we were so our Uber would have to cross the bridge and it’s such an amazing structure up close!

I’m all about a good rooftop vibe & of course they’re hard to come by in the winter but the rooftop at El Techo is insulated! They have Mexican bites & cocktails, plus a pretty dope view of the Mission. We watched the sunset up there & it was the perfect end to our trip.

That’s all for my little adventure, I hope this was helpful! Have you ever been to San Francisco? If you try any of my recommendations, let me know your thoughts below! Now I’m off to plan my next adventure. Hmmm…
